ABOUT KATARINA
My background
Growing up among creative women… and a loving father
First it was Hulda, my grandfather’s aunt, who was a educated milliner, which was unusual at the time. At a respectable age of 94, when I was 6 years old, she still showed me when she made hats. I also remember how she showed me how to “jump rope” with her feet firmly anchored on the ground… I still have her beautifully decorated corsets and embroidered mamelukes with her handmade laces on. Hulda was a feminist woman and in many ways before her time.
Hulda was the woman with a very strong PERSONALITY.

The woman with STYLE was my grandmother May. She knew the art of dressing. When she was young and she saw dresses, suits, coats etc. in newspapers, which not were available in her city, she began to sketch, make patterns and sew for herself and to people around her.
Grandma valued a beautifully made inside as high as the outside, a priority I still carry with me. When I was a teenager in the early 80’s and created my clothing styles she followed it with a loving horror-mixed delight, once I even got her beautiful lace curtains, which I loved, that I made a suit and coat out of.
Beloved grandmother May had a big heart and a very fascinating life story and her STYLE still holds ….

My wonderful mother Majvor (on the photo above) is raised in a creative but organized environment, she developed a taste for style and QUALITY. Mom was in the first generation who dressed as teenagers, she bought fabrics, Grandma showed pictures of fashion clothes and Grandma in turn drew and sewed teenage clothes for her, much in small checkered fabric.
Mom has always appreciated QUALITY, sustainability and being afraid of her fellow human beings and nature. During the very pattern and colorful 70’s, my mother and our home were chalk white, it all landed in a more modern classic style that she built on over the years. My mom learnd me Interior Design since I was a little girl, when I was three years old, I got to borrow her sewing machine and sew patchwork. Me and my sister also get cartons which we wallpapered and furnished and played with our dolls.
The gene of love to QUALITY comes from my mother.
I Katarina is deeply impressed by the above mentioned women and of course also by my beloved daughter and my son who continued with the creative in their more technical way.
When I was 3 years old, I had to borrow my mother’s sewing machine and started creating, cutting, gluing and sewing clothes for my dolls, Barbies and trolls. The passion for clothes and fabrics has never stopped but developed through various times.
When I finished my education at the age of 23, I started working as a design assistant and went on to work as a designer. I have worked in small family businesses, which has been wonderful with all the varied tasks, to working at the big chains with a large clientele with large quantities and the joy, challenges and responsibility that entails. I was also worked responsible for fit and production.
I have been involved and responsible for starting up two fashion companies from the ground and run and successfully develop them.

I even started my own brand VONBON. When the idea of starting VONBON began to take shape, it was to create personal classics in high quality, a timeless style where Scandinavian minimalism meets the personality of the conscious woman, where genuine craftsmanship, locally produced and unique go before mass production and overconsumption.
VONBON was Swedish design manufactured in Europe. When choosing manufacturing fabric manufacturers and sewing factories, it fell naturally on Europe as it was important for me to be able to ensure that the production was nearby and had a good environment and working conditions which could be traced at every stage. Even short transports of finished collections was something which was very appreciated. Together we make a difference!
So STYLE, QUALITY & PERSONALITY are my key words.
My last job before I moved abroad was as a Design, Purchasing and Assortment Manager at a Swedish well known men’s fashion company.
Working with the creative, commercial, changing, fast pace and being open to what opportunities each new day brings suits me perfectly “The only constant is change” isn’t that also what makes working life fun and interesting?
Looking forward to hearing from you unconditionally, welcome to contact me for a collaboration.
VONBON ♡ My Fashion Brand
I am the founder of the fashion company VONBON which I ran for five years. I had retailers and my own store. A highlight was the unique design collaboration VONBON had with Sweden’s largest fashion magazine FEMINA. Where I designed a tie blouse, including drawn the fabric print. This blouse was sold exclusively in FEMINA’s webshop during our collaboration: ♥ We are all sisters ♥

MY FASHION JOURNEY
A quick summary over my 30 years working in the Fashion Industry....
With thirty years of experience in the fashion industry, I have a broad expertise. In an industry that has developed, changed a lot over time, both considering that the entire process from idea to finished garment was located in Sweden and was moved abroad. The customers’ purchasing behavior has also changed a lot and not at least a focus based on the fact that production was placed abroad, the aspect of sustainibility and most importantly the human working conditions have come into focus.
When I started in the industry, all design, pattern construction and manufacturing was in Sweden. It was fantastic to smell the fabric / yarn in the morning when I came to work, walk through the sewing room / embroidery… that the entire purchasing-design-manufacturing process was in the same place gave a solid knowledge of everything from idea & sketch, purchasing, pattern construction, testing, dyeing, embroidery, sewing, marketing, sales and production until the collection was sent to retailers to be sold to the end customer. Every collection was a design – development process journey!
I have worked for family businesses, which I have loved because the tasks have overlapped more than when I worked for large companies. However, I love the efficiency and fast pace that has been the case at larger companies I have worked for.
